Flyboard is the most popular water entertainment in recent years. The vehicle, which produces power by pushing water, makes adrenaline enthusiasts fly, somersault, and dive into the sea.

What is Flyboard? (History, Features, Parts)

We started to see people flying in the air at the end of a hose over the sea. Those who dive into the sea by doing somersaults in the air and quickly get out of the sea envy everyone. Flyboard, a new marine sport tool, is becoming more and more common. The the expensive and fun toy of holiday resorts, the flyboard, is a tool that everyone who is fond of water sports and adrenaline enthusiast should try. It is promising as an entertainment tool that is becoming increasingly widespread in the world and in Turkey. You can experience the adrenaline of water sports such as water skiing, jet skiing, snowboarding and acrobatic diving with a flyboard. You can glide on the water, speed, dive or make quick ascents with the flyboard, which gives you indescribable feelings. In other words, it is a vehicle where you can find all the sports you can do on the water together.

Historic

Flyboard was designed by French aeronautical engineer and jetski world champion Franky R. Zabata in the fall of 2012. The flyboard, which was patented under the name of the company named “Zabata Racing”, spread all over the world, especially in European countries in a short time. The vehicle was introduced for the first time at the 2012 World Ski Championships. In 2014, the first Flyboard World Cup races were held in Dubai. With this organization, it has become a sport that can be done alone. Flyboard continues to rise as both a sports and entertainment tool with increasingly popular races and tournaments.

Features

Flyboard aerates the user as a result of spraying the water with pressure or makes it move in the sea. Designed to provide superior control and precise maneuverability, the flyboard is very easy to use. You just have to stay in balance and use your body and feet in sync.

Flyboard, which can go up to 15 meters above the water surface, is a vehicle that requires balance and effort. It can go under water to a depth of 2.5 meters. It can be guided according to the person’s body and foot movements. The thrust piece called “nozzle” attached to the feet provides 90 percent thrust. Nozzles that can be attached to the arms can help you balance or stand still. 80% of the power obtained is given under the feet. The nozzle on the arms applies 20 percent pressure to stay in balance.

It is produced in two different models. The first model is ideal for amateur use. This version provides freedom of movement regarding easy learning to use the tool, foot and body balance and inclinations. The second model is also more professional. This model provides motion and flight precision, completely dependent on one’s abilities. Adrenaline offers targeted, instinctive perception. In addition, it provides the opportunity to make progress or movements like a dolphin in and on the water. Let’s also give the following information about the models: Flyboard Sport, which is mainly used for entertainment, is an ideal model for beginners.

The static footplate helps beginners become accustomed to the incredible capability of the higher sports model. At the same time, the cheapest flyboard model is Flyboard Sport. The Flyboard Pro model, on the other hand, is the hydroflight model preferred by top athletes all over the world for its performance advantages. It maximizes performance and capabilities thanks to its swivel baseplate that allows the flyboard to rotate up to 20 degrees on its axis.

To be able to use the flyboard, half an hour of training is enough. Even without a trainer, you can use it very comfortably in 1 hour. Of course, you have to be a little fearless. You can use this tool for 1 to 2 hours depending on your performance.

How Does It Work?

Flyboard works with a special mechanism that attaches to marine vehicles such as watercraft or jetski. The flyboard, which takes off thanks to the pressurized water provided by the sea vehicles, enables acrobatic movements in and on the water.

Thanks to its advanced propulsion system, it can direct the water flow 32 percent more powerfully and directly. Some models have improved hydrodynamic efficiency by 35 percent over their first models. Designed to make every move on time and as needed, the nozzle can vary depending on the model.

Flyboard Parts

The PWC (Personal Water Craft) called “deck” on the flyboard and foot boots are the main parts. Hose, hose clamps, connectors, pump interface, pipes are other important parts. PWC is wide base plate for maximum stability. Diameter, power, direction and angle of nozzles; It can be optimized in accordance with PWC. The special hose and connection systems that can work, rotate and bend in an organized manner with all other parts are also optimized with the main parts. The turbine system also sprays water from the PWC body. The bending and twisting system allows the PWC to rotate on its own axis. The strength of the spring system, which returns the user to the first starting point, can be adjusted. The spring system can rotate to 0, 10 or 20 degree angle points after the initial travel point.

There is also a set of pins that stop the rotation function for new users. The aluminum part, called the “nozzle rings”, helps to increase the pressure and power of the water.

The remote control (Electronic Management Kit – EMK), which is one of the most important parts of the flyboard, gives the rider the opportunity to remotely control the throttle of the PWC. There is no need for a second person to control the PWC. It can work in air and underwater. It has 5 different levels for different thrust. The so-called “nozzle” provides a fast or slow transition for using hydroflight (push, fly) and PWC. Switching can be done in less than a minute. There are also wired connection adapters attached to the nozzles. It has several model-specific settings. The double fan, which is one of the primary parts that provides the thrust and flight force, makes the PWC work more effectively. Fans increase the thrust of the PWC by 30 to 40 percent. It also reduces fuel consumption by 20 to 30 percent. In order to connect all these parts to jetski or water engines, there are connection apparatuses suitable for the models of these water vehicles.

The spray part (hydroflight) of the Flyboard and the table called PWC can be easily mounted together.

What is FlyboardAir?

FlyboardAir is a new product designed by Franky Zapata that allows people to fly by minimizing the power of the jet engine. It is the vehicle that can stay in the air for the longest time on its own fuel and fly the longest distance. With this feature, it is an innovative design that entered the Guinness Book of Records. This product is not yet commercially available. It is currently available for some shows. Vehicle; It can stay in the air for 10 minutes, reach a speed of 150 kilometers, take off 30 meters in 4 minutes.
